Don’t end up in the phisherman’s net!

24 Oct 2016

Are you risking being caught by a phishing attack? Take the short online course to learn how to spot phishing emails.

Phishing emails are fake emails sent to trick you into giving personal information like your University ID or your bank account details. If you take the bait you could compromise your own and the University’s sensitive information, potentially costing yourself embarrassment and financial loss, as well as that of the University.

You can learn how to spot these kinds of attacks and stay safe by taking a short 15 minute email phishing awareness course. Simply log into Blackboard at https://online.manchester.ac.uk where the course will appear in your course list. If it does not appear in the list, you can book yourself on to the course at https://app.manchester.ac.uk/CCCEMPH.

At this time of year we see an increase in phishing emails targeting both students and staff. During this year’s Welcome week students were already being targeted by a fake email claiming to offer an educational grant, in a bid to trick them into divulging their bank details.

Learn to protect yourself before it’s too late by taking the email phishing awareness course.
