Hear Andy Haldane talk about 'Running businesses differently'

26 Feb 2016

The Chief Economist at the Bank of England, will give the final lecture in Alliance MBS's Responsible Business series on 3 March 2016 (5.45pm)

Andy Haldane

Andy Haldane will ask:

  • Can business be run differently?
  • Are corporate models fit for purpose?
  • Who ultimately runs a company?

Whether it’s excessive executive remuneration, unethical practices, the use of monopoly or oligopoly powers, or too much focus on short-termism, the traditional corporate model has faced a rising tide of criticism in recent years.

Hear Andy Haldane, Chief Economist at the Bank of England and Executive Director of Monetary Analysis and Statistics, explore different governance and incentive structures and discuss the various micro-economic frictions and their macro-economic impact.

This lecture marks the end of a short series of Responsible Business lectures, led by AMBS Professor Karel Williams and supported by Manchester University Press. The series has illustrated the radicalism of current practitioner thinking about responsible business.
