First-ever Women In Media Conference

18 Feb 2016

Top speakers and debates such as ‘is this what a feminist looks like?’

The Manchester Media Group is hosting its first-ever Women In Media Conference on the weekend of the 4-6 March, at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Cambridge Street, Manchester.

The weekend-long event is student-run and the committee is a mix of genders. It aims to celebrate successful women in the media industries as well as inspire young women who may feel like their gender disadvantages them in this industry.

It is open to all, regardless of whether you are a student or not or what gender you are.

Speakers include Editorial Lead on women's sport at the BBC Shelley Alexander and North of England Editor of The Guardian Helen Pidd.

There will also be talks, workshops and panel debates such as 'Is this what a feminist looks like? Feminism and the fashion industry'

All money the event makes will be donated through the Student Union's RAG society to Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH) which helps sex workers in the city with healthcare, counselling and safety.
