Video looks back at the year we hosted China’s President Xi Jinping and looks forward to the Year of the Monkey

President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell wished our Chinese staff and students Gong Xi Fa Cai – that’s Mandarin for happy new year – as they brought in the Year of the Monkey.

Nancy recorded the message, which was shown at our Chinese Students and Scholars Association, noting how we now have 4,000 Chinese students: more than one in ten of our student population.

She also recalled how delighted she was for us to host China’s President Xi Jinping, back in October.
