Help our fully-supervised students get their clinical training

Contact lens

Students in the final year of their optometry degree provide a clinical service to members of the public as part of their training at the University.

During these clinical sessions, the students are supervised by a fully-qualified optometrist staff member.  As an incentive for patients to attend the contact lens clinic, and therefore provide clinical experience for our students, the clinic offers free contact lens fittings, trials and check-ups for all staff, students and members of the general public (16 years and above).

The clinic stocks a wide range of contact lenses from all the main contact lens manufacturers including daily disposable, monthly disposable, coloured, toric, rigid and bifocal contact lenses.

If you would like to attend the clinic, either for new contact lenses or for continuing contact lens check-ups, contact:

  • 0161 306 3860
  • 0161 275 5354

The clinic is situated in the Carys Bannister building, just off Dover Street.
