Blackwell's and Starbucks move

07 Jan 2016

Blackwell’s bookshop and Starbucks will continue to be open throughout the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) refurbishment and will be relocated to temporary retail accommodation

This will be the area between the Arthur Lewis Building and the Humanities Bridgeford Street Building. Construction work and the temporary retail units will be to the grassed area to the left hand side when looking towards the Arthur Lewis Building entrance.

Some preparatory works will begin next week (w/c 11 January) to dig trenches for services which will occasionally cause minor disruption to pedestrians in the immediate area. The work will also include removing, relocating and replanting seven trees, as well as relocating four seating benches, which will be resited in their original location when the retail units are removed. The main works are expected to begin in early February and should be completed early April, after which the bookshop and coffee shop will move.

The relocation could be in place for up to three years dependent on the completion of the main AMBS refurbishment  works. The area will be returned to its former condition on completion of the works.

There will be  minimum interruption to the service provided by Blackwell’s and Starbucks.

Further updates will be provided as work progresses.
