University welcomes President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

12 Oct 2015

President Tony Chan to discuss his University, rising China and global impact

President Tony Chan

The University is to welcome President Tony Chan and senior delegation from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

President Tony Chan is to discuss HKUST, Rising China and Global Impact in a speech to staff and students.

Globalization, which calls for response among different sectors and stakeholders from around the world, brings opportunities along with challenges. As such, rising China in the global arena is playing an increasingly important role in addressing global imperatives and shaping international agenda. In the global marketplace, no champion can excel on its own.

So how does one make sense of this ‘new’ internationalization? How does a university find its place in the midst of global cross currents? In the globalized context which is always in flux, how do we go beyond traditional confines to soar as global players with global impact?

Following the talk, there will be a Q&A session with President Tony Chan and HKUST Vice-President Eden Woon.

The talk, on Monday, 9 November from 12.45-2pm, will be held in Lecture Theatre A, University Place.
