Keep free and get involved in ECoS event at Jodrell Bank next summer

02 Oct 2015

Please come along and be part of an amazing European City of Science event (22-24 July 2016)

Next year, Jodrell Bank has scheduled its science-music festival from 22 to 24 July 2016 as a celebration of the opening weekend of the European City of Science 2016.

On the Saturday (23 July), hundreds of delegates from the ESOF conference that sits at the heart of ECoS will be brought from Manchester in a fleet of buses to enjoy the music, the atmosphere and (most of all) the science of the festival.

As usual, we will be setting up our ‘fair’ of hands-on science activities in tents and booths around our grounds – and as usual, we would like to invite colleagues from across the University to showcase their research. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your research not only to the thousands of people who will attend the festival, but also delegates to the ESOF conference that sits at the heart of the ECoS year. Many of you will have taken part in our festivals in previous years – so know how it all works – and we are hoping that lots of new people would like to come along to be involved next year too.

This year we have two different ways of participating:

  1. for the whole festival (Friday to Sunday, all day);
  2. for one day at a time (these slots are limited, but we are able to offer some on all days at present).

Register your interest

Please keep free 21 to 24 July (and especially 23 July, when the delegates will be visiting!) and register your interest in the Festival with:

Please let Naomi know:

  1. that you are interested;
  2. what you’d like to showcase (ie your research area);
  3. the activity that you would like to use (ie what ‘hands on’ activities you would like to bring to the festival);
  4. how many people will be delivering the activity;
  5. if you already know (and it’s early days, so don’t worry if you don’t know yet) whether you would like to come for the whole festival or for one particular day. Or you can decide this later when we follow up with you.
