Manchester joins campaign for women in science, technology and engineering

WISE up to membership benefits – and award opportunities

The University has joined Women into Science and Engineering (WISE), a campaign to promote women in science, technology and engineering.

The Educational Membership offers a number of benefits for staff and students across the University including free individual membership for our staff and students, opportunities to participate in WISE events and access training, support for recruitment of female students and staff, support for mentoring schemes and a range of scholarships to support young women at UK Universities.

Click ‘Become a Member Now’. Complete your details and select ‘WISE Corporate/Organisational Employee’ under Membership Type and Select ‘University of Manchester’ from list of companies.

Awards

The annual WISE Awards recognise individuals and organisations who are actively promoting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to girls and young women. You can nominate yourself, an individual or an organisation.

Dr Huda El Mubarek, Royal Academy of Engineering and EPSRC Research Fellow from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was shortlisted for a WISE Excellence Award in 2012 and Professor Aline Miller, Professor in Biomolecular Engineering from the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, was shortlisted for a WISE Research Award in 2014.

Categories include: WISE Apprentice Award, WISE Inspiring Young People Award, WISE Hero Award, WISE Research Award, and WISE Lifetime Achievement Award.
