Changes to Oxford Road for pedestrians

19 Jun 2015

Access to Precinct changed and pavement narrowed at Manchester Museum

Oxford Road

As part of the ongoing bridge demolition works, general access to the Precinct level will be closed from Friday, 26 June for health, safety and security purposes.

This will also include access to Devonshire House at all levels. The stairs and escalator to Oxford Road will be closed, as will the ramp outside Blackwells.

For the foreseeable future, access will still be maintained from MBS West in to a small area of the Precinct that allows access in to Harold Hankins, but the interconnecting doors will only operate on the MBS security access system. There are no changes to accessing the Precinct level on the Crawford House side of Oxford Road.

In addition, the scaffolding along Oxford Road on the East Elevation of The Manchester Museum will start to be dismantled from Monday, 22 June.

This will lead to some temporary restrictions to the pavement width until the works are complete prior to the summer Graduation at the beginning of July.

Further information

Specific arrangements to access the Precinct can be made by contacting the University’s project manager Jim Boland on:

James will contact Faculty Estates to make the necessary arrangements.
