Essential maintenance work on the Video Library Service

15 May 2015

In the early hours of Tuesday 19 May, we’ll be performing essential maintenance on the Video Library Service (VLS) at stream.manchester.ac.uk, which can be used to store some of the videos in Blackboard courses, as well as other areas.

When is this happening?

The work will start on Tuesday 19 May at 2am, with it expected to finish no later than 8am. We understand that this time of year isn’t ideal for the work to take place, but it needs to be done soon.

What effect will this have?

There will be a short outage of approximately 10 minutes at 2am, with another short outage as the work completes. The VLS will generally be available, however, there may be a number of outages of a few minutes each, so we advise people to avoid using it during these times.

Will I be able to use other services?

This work does not impact other Blackboard content, My Manchester or any other services. Also, it will not affect videos hosted on the podcast / lecture capture service, meaning students will still be able to watch videos of their lectures as normal.

Technical updates as the work takes place will be posted on https://sns.manchester.ac.uk/
