Site works have now started on one of our major capital projects:  the Manchester Engineering  Campus Development (MECD).

This is the largest capital project ever undertaken by the University and, once complete, it will provide a new home for the University’s four engineering schools, the Faculty Office, a Central Teaching block and additional capacity for future expansion.

Set-up of the demolition contractor’s compound has begun off Grosvenor Street, with the demolition works due to be carried out until around March 2016, generally working east to west in two separate phases. A contractor for the main building works is being appointed with construction likely  to start early in 2016.

Further updates will be provided as work progresses.
