John Rylands Research Institute – Annual lecture

28 Apr 2015

The importance of the University Library’s Special Collections will be highlighted once again this Thursday, 30 April at the John Rylands Research Institute Annual Lecture

Taking place at The John Rylands Library, this year’s lecture will be delivered by Professor Dr Emile G L Schrijver, Professor of Jewish Book History and curator of the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana (Special Collections) at the University of Amsterdam. He will discuss how artefacts housed in the Library are vital for the study of Hebrew books since the invention of printing.

Professor Peter E Pormann said, “Professor Dr Emile G L Schrijver is an expert in Hebrew manuscripts, in particular of the post‐medieval period, and in Jewish printing. He has published and lectured extensively in Europe, Israel and North America, and I am delighted to welcome him to the Institute.”

Over 100 guests have confirmed their attendance at what promises to be an insightful evening.
