Rutherford Swish raises £105 for charities

23 Apr 2015

Clothes swap boost for Wood Street Mission and Cornerstone

The Rutherford Swish – or clothes swap – has raised £105, to be split between charities Wood Street Mission and Cornerstone.

Each charity will also get five bin-bags full of clothes which were left over after staff paid an entrance fee to regenerate their wardrobe with clothes donated by their colleagues, some of them also adding their own pre-loved items as well.

Wood Street Mission is a registered children’s charity based in the centre of Manchester, helping children and families affected by poverty in Manchester and Salford with everyday items most of us take for granted.

Cornerstone Homeless Charity is a day centre providing services to vulnerable and disadvantaged adults, helping them with issues such as poverty, poor mental health, drug and alcohol addiction and social isolation.

The Swish is organised by colleagues working in the Rutherford Building.

Staff are asked to bring along any good quality items of clothing which they no longer wear/use (handbags, shoes, tops and dresses etc), pay a donation which goes to a good cause, and help themselves to any items which colleagues have brought in which take their fancy!
