Celebrating our Wonder Women

06 Mar 2015

University marks International Women's Day with film

As part of International Women’s Day we are celebrating the contribution of women across our institution from academics to students, staff to volunteers who all ensure this is a world class university.

Students, academics and PSS staff all feature in the film, which was put together by the Division of Communications and Marketing’s intern, Ana-Maria-Alexandra Nica. Ana is studying Management and Leisure so the internship forms part of her course.

This was the first production that she filmed and edited herself and it has been highly praised by those who’ve seen it.

Ana says: “This was an amazing experience. I got to meet some fascinating women and I learned a lot about the film making process. It was hard work but really worth it to promote the exceptional work being done by all women at The University.”

As part of our celebration we are also supporting Manchester’s feminist festival Wonder Women. There are several events on throughout March as well as a three year campaign of celebration leading up to the centenary of women winning the (partial) right to vote.

Wonder Women shines a light on some of the incredible, creative and campaigning women working in and from Manchester today.
