Workplace Giving is growing

12 Feb 2015

Since the launch of the new Workplace Giving scheme in October 2014, we're proud to announce that the number of colleagues making monthly donations from pay has risen from just over 60 to more than 180

If you have signed up to Workplace Giving, you have joined the one million people in the UK who are making monthly donations from their pay to this scheme. Some of you even signed up as you celebrated Christmas and the New Year.

Among your most popular charities is Save the Children. Here’s a video which shows why your donations are needed and how they are used:

Workplace Giving UK have been so impressed by the engagement of our staff that they have invited the University to join their creative Geared for Giving campaign. The campaign uses peer testimonials and case studies to encourage other employers to join Workplace Giving.

Since Geared for Giving was launched six years ago, the scheme is now worth an extra £20 million a year to the charity sector and the number of employees giving from pay nationally has increased by over 400,000.

The campaign features our own Professor James Thompson, Associate Vice President for Social Responsibility:

Tell us about your giving

We’d love to hear from you if you'd like to tell us which charity you are supporting, why you chose it and what difference your donation is making. We may use your words in a quote in a future article on Workplace Giving. Please email up to 100 words to:

Thinking about giving?

Valentine’s Day may be inspiring you to show your heart – not just to your loved ones but to people and causes who would really benefit from your giving.

By signing up to Workplace Giving, you’ll be able to make regular donations to charities of your choice directly from your pay – and giving in this way will make your money go further: a monthly gift of £10 from your take-home pay will be boosted to £16.66 for a 40% rate tax payer and to £12.50 for a basic rate taxpayer.

For a higher rate taxpayer, donating via your pay is the only method of giving that allows your charity to receive the full taxable amount automatically every month.

Signing up is easy and you can give to as many charities as you like by the following methods:
