Kick-off meeting for Manchester Policy Week 2015

03 Feb 2015

Planning for Policy Week 2015 is getting underway with a kick-off meeting at Manchester Museum featuring speakers from Manchester Science Festival and TedX

The event, which is open to all members of staff, will be held on Tuesday 17 February, 10am-12 noon in the Kanaris Lecture Theatre. The main event will be followed by a free lunch.

After the success of a themed Policy Week in 2014, this year's week-long event will have the theme of 'Science, Technology and Public Policy', reflecting the designation of Manchester as European City of Science for 2016.

The theme is not intended to be just about science and technology policy, but rather the impact of science and technology in its many forms on different areas of public policy. It’s hoped colleagues from across all Faculties will contribute.

The idea of the meeting is to spark off ideas and discussion about possible events that could be organised in Policy Week 2015.

One area that will be explored is how we think more creatively about the format and presentation of events.

With this in mind, invited speakers have experience of putting on successful, challenging and engaging programmes of events.
