Radio 4’s live arts programme celebrates gallery's re-opening

Whitworth Art Gallery

The Whitworth Art Gallery is hosting a special edition of the BBC Radio 4 arts programme Front Row to celebrate its re-opening.

The Whitworth opens on 14 February 2015 following a £15 million redevelopment. An art garden, sculpture terrace and orchard blur the line between the gallery and the park it calls home. And it has created new spaces that reflect its beautiful setting – and allow it to do more of what it does best: stage outstanding exhibitions in one of the most remarkable galleries in the north.

The gallery will host Front Row two days before the re-opening, giving the panel and the lucky audience a sneak preview of what’s will be on offer.

Presented by John Wilson, Front Row’s guests will include the actor and director Richard Wilson, the artist Cornelia Parker, the founder and artistic director of the theatre company Northern Broadsides Barrie Rutter and the director of the Whitworth Art Gallery Maria Balshaw.

Tune into BBC Radio 4 at 7.15pm on Thursday, 12 February.
