Students offered opportunity to 'Venture Out'

20 Nov 2014

Do you know someone with enterprise ideas who could compete and win time with a business mentor?

Venture Out

University students are being invited to enter this year’s Venture Out competition, run by Manchester Enterprise Centre and supported by multinational company PZ Cussons.

The ideas competition is open to all current undergraduate, postgraduate and research students across the University and entry can be as an individual or a team of up to six members.

The competition is simply looking for brilliant ideas – it could be something that solves a problem that has been identified, a modification to an existing product or service or something that’s completely new.

There are five categories – business, social, digital, research and graphene – each with three cash prizes to be used towards developing the business idea.

This year, there is also a new innovation challenge category, offered by the competition’s sponsor PZ Cussons.

As well as a £1,500 cash prize, the winner of the Innovation Challenge will also have the opportunity to be mentored by senior managers from PZ Cussons. Talent from the company will share their knowledge and creativity, and offer the mentee a strategic perspective on how to develop their innovation. Mentors will assign a minimum of two days to the mentee. Typically this time would be allocated to an initial meeting and feedback, 2 two-hour telecoms follow-ups and a final review meeting.

To enter

  • Students need to read the competition requirements, complete an entry form and submit it by 12pm on Monday 8 December.
