You are invited to attend the University’s Foundation Day celebrations

Professor Jeanette Winterson will deliver the 2014 Foundation Lecture, entitled ‘Manchester: from Gradgrind to Graphene’, on Wednesday, 22 October

Foundation Lecture: 4.30-5.45pm in University Place

Each year, the University marks its foundation with its prestigious Foundation Lecture.

The President and Vice-Chancellor would like to invite as many members of staff as possible from across the University to attend this occasion.

The lecture will be preceded by a drinks reception at 4pm in University Place.

Foundation Day Honorary Degree Ceremony: 6.15pm in Whitworth Hall

There are also a number of places available to attend the Foundation Day Honorary Degree Ceremony, which will take place after the Lecture.

Honorary Degrees will be conferred upon:

• Professor Dame Julia King
• Mr Simon Weston
• Professor Jeanette Winterson

Tickets

Unfortunately, there are a limited number of tickets available, so these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be issued during the second week of October.
