Autumn and winter events at Tabley House

16 Sep 2014

The Friends of Tabley Autumn and Winter events programme includes a fine assortment of guided tours, illuminating talks and the Carol Concert in December

St Oswald's Church, Lower Peover

To launch the season, the Friends have organised a very special guided tour of St Oswald’s Church, Lower Peover on 23 September, followed by afternoon tea. St Oswald’s dates back to the 13th century and its history is rich with tales of grand Cheshire families, as well as a test for the perfect farmer’s wife.

The church has a very close connection with Tabley House too, as the 3rd Lord de Tabley (poet and renowned botanist) and his sister Eleanor are buried in the churchyard. As a mark of remembrance, wreaths will be placed on their graves by the Friends.

The tour starts at 2 pm and costs £16.50 including afternoon tea at the Bells of Peover.
