Enhancing students' experience of the Podcasting service

03 Sep 2014

From 8 September course unit Podcasts will be accessible from a new and improved website.

Podcasting

The new site will prompt students to login, looking up their enrolment details (similar to Blackboard) to present them with a list of all relevant course Podcasts.

Hosted at the Video Portal, links will be added to courses over the next two weeks. Note that only Podcasts recorded from the 8 September will be available through this new site.

From a teaching perspective, feedback from teaching staff identified a need to be able to pause lecture recordings to allow sensitive information to be displayed on a slide; or for classroom discussion to take place without being recorded. This will now be possible via the use of a QR code on presentation slides, which the system will read and pause recording whilst displayed. More information on this can be found on this page: Editing with QR codes.

An open meeting for staff covering these latest enhancements to the Podcast service will take place on 8 September at 1pm in Stopford Lecture Theatre 1. Any staff member is welcome to attend, however teaching staff may find the session of most benefit.

Recording opt-out emails for Semester 1 will be sent out to teaching colleagues on 8 September, after 3pm.
