Faculty of Humanities are listening to the views of their staff

27 May 2014

Responding to the results of the Staff Survey by introducing new channels of communication

As part of the effort to improve communication in the Faculty of Humanities, Russell Ashworth, Director of Faculty Operations, has introduced bi-annual Faculty Office staff open meetings to both update staff on University and Faculty developments (e.g. Staff Survey, key achievements and priorities, Estates developments) and to provide an opportunity for questions and feedback.

Russell is also undertaking a schedule of staff engagement visits to Faculty and School PSS teams to discuss challenges and priorities at Faculty level (in the area relevant to each specific team e.g. teaching and learning or recruitment and admissions) and to listen to any concerns or suggestions about the work of the individual team.  Any comments that staff make are fed back to the Faculty Senior Leadership Team for consideration.

In addition, the Faculty’s leadership development programme for academic leaders and managers, Step into Leadership, is also being revised to include specific communication and staff engagement training.
