Vital Topics - The New Industrial Revolution. Where next for the North West?

12 Mar 2014

Is the world on the cusp of another industrial revolution? You are invited to join Manchester Business School for an insightful event exploring this topic on Thursday, 27 March, 6-8pm at MBS East.

Peter Marsh

Peter Marsh is the author of The New Industrial Revolution: Consumers, Globalisation and the End of Mass Production. He worked as a journalist at the Financial Times from 1983-2013, where his most recent job was manufacturing editor. During his time at the FT, he also covered technology, economics and the chemicals industry.

At our next Vital Topics event, Peter will explore in depth some of the themes outlined in his work – the impact that developing technology and the spread of innovation and collaboration increasingly have on the pace of manufacture and what that means to the business world as a whole. In this unique presentation he will draw parallels between the industrial past of the North West of England and the opportunities approaching.

Peter will be joined by Mark Cropper from James Cropper Group Plc; a specialist paper manufacturer established in 1845 in Cumbria, who will bring a wealth of real world expertise from his experience  of leading a global manufacturing business. Dr Kieron Flanagan, lecturer in Science and Technology Policy at Manchester Business School, will bring his insight and expertise around innovation, policy and funding along with his views on the industrial future for the region and beyond.
