Water Supply and Sanitation Policy in Developing Countries
Manchester Business School’s first massive open online course (MOOC) is now open for free registration.
Part of the University's partnership with Coursera, Water Supply and Sanitation in Developing Countries is led by MBS’ Dr Duncan Thomas and the University’s Professor Dale Whittington.
The course begins on 26 May 2014 and examines the current conditions and trends in water and sanitation services in the Global South.
It takes a critical look at the underlying political, economic, social, and technical reasons why almost a billion people lack access to improved water supplies and almost two billion still do not have improved sanitation services.
It will take place over six weeks and includes online lectures, videos and discussions with around eight to ten hours of work per week.
The MOOC is recommended for delegates with a wide background, including engineering, public health, business, geography, economics, planning, sociology, anthropology, and political science.
Students who successfully complete the class will receive a Statement of Accomplishment signed by the instructor.
Coursera is an education company that partners with the top universities and organisations in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free. Manchester was the third UK university and one of 13 universities to join Coursera at the end of last year - taking their total number of partners to more than 100.
