Careers Fairs offer placement, job and postgraduate study opportunities

11 Nov 2013

Please help to promote the Law Fair on 19 November and the Postgraduate Study Fair on 20 November to our students.

The programme of Autumn Careers Fairs is now well under way. The fairs are organised by The Careers & Employability Division to assist our students and graduates to further their chances of finding the right job or course of further study for when they graduate.

We’d be delighted if you could help us promote the two remaining fairs we’re running by directing students to:

Our students are really lucky in that over the course of our Autumn fairs, if they choose, they can have access to over 450 organisations offering them placement, job and postgraduate study opportunities and they don’t even have to leave Manchester to meet with them all. Please help us make them aware of these opportunities.

The Law Fair on 19 November

Around 100 exhibitors are booked to attend and students from all degree disciplines are welcomed. Visitors have the chance to meet with a variety of Law firms offering training contracts and placements, plus legal course providers from throughout the UK, as well as representatives from the Bar who will give information on how to train to become a barrister.

The Postgraduate Study Fair on 20 November

97 exhibitors will be giving information on their postgraduate courses, not just in the UK but also overseas. Visitors can get advice on a variety of postgraduate issues including funding, studying overseas, getting into teaching, and what is involved in studying for a Masters or a PhD. Hopefully this will encourage some of our students to seriously consider postgraduate study as an option.

Earlier fairs

  • The Ethnic Diversity Fair on 9 October promoted opportunities with 25 companies keen to attract applications from our black and minority ethnic students.
  • The Volunteering Fair on 10 October hosted around 80 organisations promoting a range of volunteering roles.
  • The Engineering, Science & Technology Fair on 16 October, followed by the Finance, Business & Management Fair on 17 October were two very popular sector specific events with just over 160 different companies exhibiting over the two days, offering full time employment for Autumn 2014 to our finalists and graduates as well as student placements to our pre-finalists.
