Briefing session on the Policy on the Recording of Lectures (Lecture Capture)

12 Sep 2013

Professor Richard Reece, Associate Vice President for Teaching, Learning and Students, is holding a briefing session on the Policy and its implementation for staff on Wednesday, 25 September at 2pm in Lecture Theatre A, University Place.

All colleagues are welcome to attend.

The University’s Policy on the Recording of Lecturers and other Teaching and Learning Activities comes into effect this month.

Under the Policy, all lectures (or other group teaching and learning activities) which are scheduled to take place in centrally-managed teaching rooms equipped with podcasting facilities will be automatically recorded and distributed to students registered on that unit, unless the lecturer responsible opts out of the recording process.

No video cameras are used in the teaching environment. Instead the podcast system directly records the output of the projector and theatre microphones. Therefore, if PowerPoint presentations are shown on the screen, the content of these will be captured along with an accompanying an audio track.

Professor Reece would encourage all colleagues to attend the session since it will provide an opportunity to learn more about the Policy and to ask any questions.
