Blackboard and Start of Year 2013

28 Aug 2013

All Bb9 courses activated by Course Leaders will be visible to students on Monday 9 September 2013 (unless a different date option is selected on activation).

Until that date, your 2013/14 courses can be found under the Future tab in the My Courses portlet of the University portal/My Manchester. You should ensure that your Bb9 space has appropriate content for the start of year.

Instructions on how to roll forward your Bb9 2012/13 course to the 2013/14 course are available in the Knowledge Base.

Please review the full ‘Preparing Blackboard 9 courses for start of year’ article, available on the Knowledge Base, which includes an outline of the process for making courses available to students and links to further information about the following:
  • FAQs and Troubleshooting Blackboard for start of year (staff);
  • How to activate Blackboard 9 courses (staff);
  • Key dates for Blackboard 9;
  • Post course-activation checklist for Bb9 (staff);
  • How to set up a new Bb9 course (build from scratch) after activation (staff) or How to copy courses in Blackboard 9
There have been a few instances where people have activated their course units but the wrong template has been applied or content has not been copied over and a blank template has been applied.

This has been investigated and it is believed the problem has been resolved. You should therefore continue to activate your courses in the normal way.

Once you have activated your course unit please check the content and structure carefully to make sure that the correct template has been applied and the expected content has appeared.

If anything is not as expected please do no further work on your course unit.

Please note that all year, semester 1 and semester 2 courses will be available to students until 8 September 2013. Semester 1 and all year courses will be available to staff until 29 November 2013. Semester 2 courses will be available to staff until 28 March 2014.
