Armitage Sports Centre to improve student sport facilities over the summer

25 Jun 2013

Possible disruptions throughout the summer at the Armitage Sports Centre due to renovation works.

Armitage Sports Centre exterior

The Armitage Sports Centre, home of SPORT Manchester, is to benefit from considerable investment over the summer to improve its sports facilities for students. The centre will undergo renovation works in the sports hall, changing rooms, cricket pitch and entrance area.

This is the latest in a long line of improvement works at the sports centre in recent years including the extension and refurbishment of the fitness suite, installation of four new outdoor 3G 5-a-side football pitches and most recently the renovation of the old tennis court area.

Please be aware that in order to ensure renovations are complete in time for the new academic year, current users may experience some disruption over the next couple of months. Please note the fitness suite will not be affected and will be open as normal.

Where possible we will try and keep all the fitness suite members and other users informed about any impact on regular operations of the centre via signage in the centre, updates on the Sport Manchester facebook page or the news feed on the website.

Please not that there may be some disruption during the Summer whilst the following work is completed:

  • Temporary changing areas will be in operation whilst work on the changing rooms is completed;
  • The sports hall will be unavailable for use until mid-September whilst the flooring and lighting is replaced;
  • Work on the entrance area will mean that arrangements will be in place for alternative access to the centre;
