Participants wanted: Hyperspectral facial imaging
Description
We are recruiting healthy volunteer participants to have their faces digitally imaged with a hyperspectral camera, as part of an EPSRC funded research project “AMFaces” (Advanced Additive Manufacturing of User-Focused Facial Prostheses with Real-Life Colour Appearances).
The overall aim of the project is to develop a new way of manufacturing ultra-realistic facial prostheses with digital technologies. To achieve precise reproduction of facial skin surfaces, we need to understand how skin surfaces reflect light of different colours or wavelengths, which is why we use a hyperspectral camera.
The study will be undertaken at a research laboratory in the Nancy Rothwell Building, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester.
Participants need to satisfy the following conditions:
- Are aged 18 years or older.
- Are not suffering from any medical conditions, skin disorders, neurological disorders, nor any form of photosensitivity.
- Do not have any facial tattoos.
- Will be happy to remove facial cosmetics.
- Do not have beard or will be happy to remove it.
- Will be able to communicate in English and provide us with informed consent.
We will invite approximately 10 individuals.
Participant Information Sheet (PIS) will be provided for details.
