Mitigating Circumstances & Extensions (MC&E) project: January update
29 Jan 2026
Work on the Mitigating Circumstances & Extensions (MC&E) project continues, with a focus on making the process clearer, more consistent and easier for students to navigate.
Discovery work with delivery partner EY has now concluded, and the project has moved into early build activity. The team is working closely with EY to validate requirements and shape the layout and logic of the new MC&E application forms, helping to confirm what can be delivered in design and build.
Alongside this, technical feasibility work is underway to explore how MC&E could integrate with student, programme and assessment data. This work is focused on understanding options and constraints and will inform sequencing and next phases of delivery.
Planning is also underway for a small number of student focus groups taking place in February. These sessions will bring together students from across the University to share insight into their experiences of the current process and help inform future design and communications work.
In parallel, the team has been reviewing student-facing forms and guidance to improve clarity, accessibility and consistency, ensuring content is easy to understand ahead of later phases of delivery.
Further updates on progress and next steps will be shared as early build activity continues and timelines become clearer.
