What happens when staff integrate virtual reality into their teaching, trial teaching microcredentials, experiment with AI and much more?
We facilitated and funded 20 flexible learning pilots to find out. You can now discover the surprising lessons, candid reflections, and game-changing ideas that emerged from our Flexible Learning pilots in our new video series.
- Professor Simon Thomson shares how facilitating and funding the Flexible Learning pilots mobilised and brought the Flexible Learning strategy to life at The University of Manchester. Watch our Introduction to Flexible Working pilots.
Evaluating the Flexible Learning pilots
Enfuse Group independently reviewed and evaluated how these Flexible Learning pilots were facilitated so that we can learn from our newly developed process and share across the University the experience of it, includingwhat went well and what we could do differently.
You can read the Enfuse’s evaluation report here, where you can find the following recommendations:
- Co-ordinate finance, HR, and procurement processes so that local processes and centrally co-ordinated process align better.
- Reinforce central co-ordination of priorities and build pathways for future adoption and scale.
- Promote structured guidance and knowledge sharing between pilots and develop communities of practice for sharing experiences
- Align future piloting or innovation funds to the Theory of Change and a results framework that supports the University’s strategy and leaps.
The evaluation outcome shows that success was driven by aligning pilots with institutional priorities, enabling scalability and sustained adoption.
