Dr Simon Moralee

Simon is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Management and Programme Director for the PG Cert/PG Dip/MSc Healthcare Leadership (NHS Leadership Academy’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Standard and Graduate Management Training Scheme pathways), and he takes up the new role on 1 August.

Bryan Lukas, Academic Director of Executive Education, commented on the appointment: “Simon brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record in healthcare leadership and organisational development.

“His extensive experience, including his impactful work with the NHS Leadership Academy, will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our programmes and support the growth of health service managers. I look forward to embracing future opportunities for HMG under Simon's leadership.”

Prior to joining the university in 2014, Simon worked as a government economist, healthcare manager and academic. At Manchester, Simon’s work has focused on leadership and organisational development, tutoring, coaching and mentoring NHS staff through the NHS Leadership Academy's Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme, and contributing to various postgraduate healthcare leadership programmes for international students and professional, scientific, and technical healthcare staff.

Simon said: “I’m delighted to take up this role as Head of HMG, which has been contributing to the leadership development and training of managers within health services since 1956.

“I’d like to thank Prof. Ann Mahon for her exemplary leadership of HMG and look forward to continuing the work she has done collaborating with colleagues across the business school to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences across all of our programmes.”
