Register now for the Teaching and Learning Conference 2026

13 May 2026

Registration is now open for the University’s Teaching and Learning Conference 2026, taking place on 8–9 July 2026. This free, two-day event brings colleagues together to share practice, reflect on what works, and shape the future of teaching, learning and the wider student experience at Manchester.

Teaching and Learning Conference

Confirmed speakers

Across two days you’ll hear from leading voices in higher education, alongside senior leaders from the University, exploring how teaching and learning can connect with research, and drive innovation, inclusion and social justice:

  • Professor Helen Walkington (Oxford Brookes University) – Research-informed teaching and learning (8 July, 15:30–16:30)
  • Dr Hardeep Basra (De Montfort University) – Social justice in teaching and learning (9 July, 09:30–10:20)
  • Professor Jenn Hallam and Professor John Holden (University of Manchester) – Teaching and learning as innovation (9 July, 16:10–16:50)

Together, these sessions will look at how we can design meaningful learning experiences for students, strengthen inclusive practice, and connect teaching with research and innovation in support of the University’s ambitions for 2035.

Who is the conference for?

The Teaching and Learning Conference is relevant to all colleagues who contribute to learning at Manchester. You do not need to be a teaching specialist to attend - if your role shapes the student experience, there will be ideas and conversations you can take back to your work.

  • Academic staff who teach, assess and design curricula
  • Research-active colleagues who supervise or contribute to taught programmes
  • Professional services staff supporting learning and the student experience (including learning technology, library, student support, assessment, timetabling, programme admin and quality)
  • Colleagues involved in inclusion, accessibility, widening participation and student partnership
  • Postgraduate research students and students with a role in teaching and learning (where relevant to your area)
