Future Foundations – a message from our sponsor
28 Apr 2026
Carol Prokopyszyn looks ahead to the first launch of Oracle Fusion in November.
By modernising People and Finance services, Future Foundations enables the University to operate as one connected institution – supporting our ambition to be a great civic university, from Manchester, for the world.
It’s all about being organised for success, improving how we work together and making things easier. We’re going to achieve this by bringing in Oracle Fusion - a new system for our people and finance services, enabled through digital technology. This means lots of benefits for you, including:
- great quality data
- simpler standard processes
- improved user experience
We’ve successfully completed the design for Release 1 of the new system and we are developing the new processes. Your feedback has been vital to helping us achieve this milestone:
- over 700 insights logged and contributed to design of processes
- over 120 different engagement sessions since January this year
- 170 people attended our stakeholder insight sessions over 2 days in March
- colleagues from People and Finance who know the systems best, working on the new processes and system every day on the programme
- representation from faculties at project board level
As we move into the next phase of testing and implementation, we wanted to share a message from our programme sponsor, Chief Financial Officer Carol Prokopyszyn:
So far on Future Foundations we’ve been asking “what could this look like?” and now we’re asking “how do we make this land really well?”. Part of this means testing systems, processes, data and integrations thoroughly - so we’ll continue to involve colleagues in user testing, system demos, and as part of our Change Champions network.
Keep a look out for more communications to stay involved and get prepared for our first release in November which includes:
- expenses
- annual leave booking
- payroll
- integrations with other UoM systems
- replacing MyView
