Creation of new P drives to stop from Wednesday 1 July

Colleagues and students who join the University from Wednesday 1 July 2026 onwards, will not have a P drive (personal network storage) provisioned to them, by default.

File storage

While current staff and students can continue using their P drives without needing to transfer data, OneDrive remains the primary service and default location for personal files on Windows 11. Users are strongly encouraged to manage their files in OneDrive to take full advantage of enhanced security, easy accessibility, and improved collaboration features.

Personal Web Pages

Personal web pages hosted at personalpages.manchester.ac.uk have their files stored on users’ P drives, so from the 1st July no new colleagues will be able to use this service. Existing personal webpages will be unaffected.
