Introducing the Disability@Manchester Hub
24 Apr 2026
A shared space for Disability and Neurodivergence at Manchester
We’re excited to share the launch of our Disability@Manchester Hub: a multidisciplinary and cross-functional community, bringing together projects, research, initiatives and events, covering all aspects of disability at the University, including deafness, neurodivergence and long-term health conditions. It’s aimed at everyone involved or interested in the Disability Inclusion space, not just Disabled people.
Why was this set up?
Hamied Haroon:
"On becoming the University's new Academic Lead for EDI Disability in February 2026 I was genuinely staggered to come in contact with so many colleagues leading on such ground-breaking Disability Inclusion efforts across the University. However, it felt like these were fragmented and siloed, and sometimes very similar in different areas of the University. So I wanted to create a Disability@Manchester Hub to connect and convene all of this activity and help make it visible. Don't worry, though, this doesn't replace our amazing Disabled and Neurodivergent Staff Networks and Disabled Students Society, which are very much alive and kicking!"
What can you expect from the hub?
The Disability@Manchester Hub hosts a range of disability-related projects and provides a platform for colleagues to connect, collaborate and share learning:
- Project channels and updates, so you can see what’s happening across disability and neurodivergence work.
- A place to ask questions, share practice and connect with others working on related activity.
- Opportunities to collaborate on events, consultations and initiatives.
- Shared resources, signposting and key contacts to support your work.
