Outstanding achievements recognised across Estates & Facilities

16 Mar 2026

On Friday, 6 March, colleagues from across our Estates & Facilities team came together for the fourth annual Estates & Facilities Outstanding Contribution Awards.

Whitworth Hall during the ceremony

The event, which was hosted by Barra Mac Ruairí (Chief Property Officer), was held to recognise both individuals and teams nominated by colleagues within the directorate, for work that went above and beyond expectation in supporting each other and the wider University.

Outstanding contributions

Each year, the Estates & Facilities Outstanding Contribution Awards highlight the people whose hard work keeps our University running and showcase the level of talent, compassion, and dedication to delivering exceptional colleague and student experience within the directorate.

Estates and Facilities: Outstanding Achievement Awards 2026

This year’s nominations spotlight colleagues who have transformed student spaces, strengthened governance, and responded to life-threatening emergencies with respect and compassion. Over the last 12 months, Estates colleagues have delivered major sustainability wins, started vital student support projects, supported the University through a wide range of projects, events, and frontline services, and kept our campus safe.

These awards celebrate the achievements themselves but also reflect the high levels of collaboration and professionalism within Estates, demonstrating the essential role that the directorate plays in shaping a safe, welcoming, and supportive campus, as well as in delivering success for the University.

Barra Mac Ruairí, Chief Property Officer, said: "I’m incredibly proud to work alongside such talented, courageous, and dedicated colleagues. The Outstanding Achievement Awards are a highlight of my year, when we come together to celebrate our diversity, our compassion, our commitment, and those unforgettable moments of excellence."
