Plan ahead for 18-19 April: Road closures on campus during Manchester Marathon weekend
11 Mar 2026
This year’s adidas Manchester Marathon is taking place on Sunday, 19 April, and will finish outside Whitworth Hall on Oxford Road – resulting in road closures from Saturday, 18 April.
The Manchester Marathon finish line is returning to Oxford Road this year, with 40,000 runners having registered.
As a result, traffic management planning between the marathon team, local councils, and Transport for Greater Manchester is currently taking place. Full details, including road closure times, will be made available on the marathon website (alongside an interactive map) in early March. However, should you have any queries in the meantime, you can get in touch with them through their website.
Road and car park closures
Cecil Street, Dilworth Street, and Booth Street West car parks will be closed. Please keep this in mind and remember to check local bus routes for diversions if you plan to come onto campus during this weekend. Similarly, if you are travelling in by foot, allow for extra time due to the crowds.
If you park in these areas and are scheduled to be in work on this weekend, please contact the Car Park Office on carparking@manchester.ac.uk or call in to G.002 Beyer Building to receive access to another university car park that weekend.
Thank you for your understanding.
