Get protected: MMR and additional vaccinations available on campus
06 Feb 2026
Measles cases are rising nationally, and universities are among the places where infections can spread quickly. To help protect our community, the NHS will again be offering walk-in vaccination clinics on campus this February and March.
These sessions are open to all staff and students, as well as the wider public. No appointment is needed.
Why getting vaccinated matters
Measles spreads very easily - even brief contact, such as 15 minutes in the same room as someone who is infectious, is enough to pass it on. You can spread measles from around four days before the rash appears to four days after.
Many adults are protected, but some may have missed one or both doses of the MMR vaccine. If you are unsure about your vaccination history, NHS staff can check for you at the clinic.
Vaccinations given at these clinics will be added to your NHS record within 24 hours.

Two doses are needed for full protection. If you haven’t had both, or aren’t sure, you’re encouraged to attend.
HPV vaccine
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common and often harmless, but some strains can cause cancers or genital warts. The NHS team can check if you’re eligible.
MenACWY vaccine
Protects against serious illnesses such as meningitis and sepsis. This vaccine is routinely offered to teenagers, but can be given up to age 25 if previously missed.
New to Manchester?
If you’ve recently moved to the city, NHS staff can also help you check your vaccination history and provide information on registering with a local GP.
