New joint research call with the University of Washington, Seattle – now open!

The new fund will close at the end of January – plus details of other global partnership funds.

Academics who are interested in developing a collaborative research project with partners at the University of Washington are invited to apply for to our new joint fund.

This exciting new opportunity aims to foster collaborative research between our institution and the University of Washington (UoW). We encourage colleagues from all disciplines to submit innovative project proposals that strengthen academic links and address shared research priorities. Funding is offered for joint projects, especially those with strong long-term impact and partnership potential.

Proposals are welcome from all research areas and should demonstrate the added value of working with UoW.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) 

MAHE is India’s top private university for Health and Life Sciences, with special emphasis on clinical sciences, cardiovascular medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and pharmacology. Its research footprint extends to chemical engineering, chemistry, computer science and economics. MAHE performs strongly in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for research related to the SDGs, particularly in health, education, gender equality.

Key dates:

Chinese University of Hong Kong

This call opens in January 2026 and closes in March 2026. Further details and updates will be communicated through the International Strategic Partnerships newsletter.

Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)

Awards of up to £420,000 are available via round eight of the AHRC-DFG research grants scheme (2025 to 2026) to conduct arts and humanities research projects with German partners.

To be eligible, applicants must be proposing research within the remit of Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC); based at a research organisation eligible to apply to AHRC; working with a German team led by a researcher eligible to apply to DFG.

Projects must be composed of two highly integrated national teams based in the UK and Germany. All proposals must demonstrate the added value of international collaboration to research objectives.

The full economic cost of the UK-component of the project can be up to £420,000. Projects can last between 24 to 36 months.
