Join Duncan Ivison at our Research Communications Conference 2026

25 Nov 2025

Save the date – Wednesday, 4 March 2026 – to develop the skills you need to reach new audiences. Our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison will open the event.

The University is holding its annual Research Communications Conference on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

This one-day event will bring together researchers, academics, and communications professionals to discuss the latest trends and best practices in sharing and promoting research.

There will also be time to network, boosting interdisciplinary and professional connections.

Our researcher panel, chaired by Vice-President for Research, Professor Colette Fagan, will provide an opportunity for researchers to share the benefits of communicating their research outside academia and of working with communications teams.

There will be presentations on generating media coverage, writing for The Conversation, using social media, a workshop with Policy at Manchester, plus a 45-minute session on Generative AI and research communications to explore current trends and challenges surrounding emerging tools and to hear from teams currently using AI in their work.

You can also use our breaks to meet with communications experts! Pre-book a 121 session or approach us throughout the day. We can help you plan the next steps to amplify your research, share advice on comms planning or social media strategy, and walk you through your next steps to increased comms and engagement.
