Manchester 2035 strategy launch and townhall

01 Oct 2025

We will launch our plan to 2035 on Wednesday, 15 October 2025. On Friday, 17 October 2025, we will host a townhall to discuss your questions in more detail. Book your place and be part of what comes next.

Manchester 2035

Thanks to all of you who contributed ideas and challenges across townhalls, workshops, our Ideas Lab and online spaces. This is our strategy – shaped by colleagues, students and partners – and it reflects the best of Manchester.

How to take part

Attend the launch in person 4.30 – 7.30pm on Wednesday, 15 October

Spaces are limited and first come, first served.

Watch the launch live on StaffNet

A live stream link will be available on StaffNet on the day.

Explore the new strategy online

Colleagues will be able to access the Manchester 2035 website and the full plan on Thursday, 16 October. Details will be published on StaffNet.

Join the townhall 10 – 11am on Friday, 17 October

Your chance to ask questions and explore the detail.

Please note: there is no online question function during the launch event – you’re invited to ask questions in person.

As always, you’ll be able to ask questions in the room or online at our townhall on Friday to dive deeper into exploring the strategy.

Where we are in the process

  • The strategy sets the what – our ambition for 2035 and the overall direction.
  • The delivery playbook will set the how – clear commitments designed for day-to-day use and will be published  later in the year.
  • We will then develop implementation plans together, to determine how we deliver on those commitments.
  • UE is beginning this month to set priorities and plan how we will engage teams in delivery.

What to expect now

  • This is a ten-year plan. Work on our foundations has already begun and from October we will focus on going faster and further in the right places.
  • From October to December, we invite you to explore the strategy online and discuss with colleagues what you and your team might do differently to reach our ambitions. We will publish deep dives on key topics to support these conversations.
  • There is no expectation to update local plans immediately – we will sequence new initiatives carefully.
  • Delivery starts in the new year with support to translate the strategy into local objectives.

An invitation to everyone

This is everyone’s strategy. Please join us, bring your questions, and help shape the next steps.
