Dear colleagues,

I’m pleased to share with you that University Executive have confirmed an additional University closure day for the upcoming festive period.

To recognise your hard work and continued dedication throughout the year, Friday, 2 January 2026, will be added as an extra University closure day.

We’ve acted in response to our Your Voice Matters survey, where you told us that only 46% of colleagues felt thanked regularly for their contribution

The University will therefore close at the end of Tuesday, 23 December 2025 and reopen on Monday, 5 January 2026

This additional day will count as a 'University closure day' and will not affect your annual leave entitlement. If you are required to work on this day, please speak with your line manager to arrange time off in lieu at a later date.

Thanks again for all the hard work and the difference you make to our University community. We hope this extra closure day gives you the chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy the festive season.

Best wishes,

Ele Morrissey

Executive Director of People
