Bus strike action to take place this week
15 Sep 2025
As you start making plans for Welcome Week, please be aware that industrial action by some operator staff will be affecting the Bee Network’s services across Greater Manchester from Friday, 19 until Monday, 22 September. TfGM are urging passengers to check their journeys and plan them in advance ahead of the strikes.

Bus passengers are being urged to plan their journey ahead of industrial action expected to take place next week in Greater Manchester.
Bus services not expected to run
Around two-thirds of Bee Network buses across Greater Manchester will not run and, due to timing of the action, some late-night services on Thursday, 18 September and early morning services on Tuesday, 23 September may also be affected.
- A full list of affected services can be found on the Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) website.
- Bolton and Wigan bus services will still operate, as well as some routes in North Manchester and the free bus in the city centre.
Alternative travel routes
- Trams will operate as usual, and people will be able to use their bus tickets and passes on trams.
- Trains will operate as normal, including Northern and TransPennine Express services.
- Local roads may be busier than normal, so please allow for extra time when travelling (whether by car or bike).
- If you decide to cycle to work, our dedicated travel webpage has information and an interactive campus map on the facilities available to you on campus.
Further information
- We encourage all colleagues to download the SafeZone app if travelling from campus alone and/or at night. You can use it to call for help 24/7 across Fallowfield, Victoria Park and the University campus.
