Over the coming weeks, we encourage all colleagues across the University to visit MyView, our self-service portal, to review and update their personal information—helping ensure accurate pay, protected benefits, timely emergency contact, and smooth processing of any death in service benefits for your loved ones.

Additionally, accurate personal data supports our vital work on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and ensures we meet our reporting obligations to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This information helps us understand our University community better, identify areas for improvement, and drive meaningful change.

All information is treated as confidential and securely stored. Ensuring the accuracy of your details, such as address, banking information, and emergency contacts supports accurate payroll processing, compliance with legal obligations, and the maintenance of up-to-date records for you and your dependants.

Updating your details in MyView helps us ensure that:

  • You get paid correctly – outdated bank or tax details can delay or misdirect your pay.
  • You receive essential updates – incorrect contact information means you could miss important communications or support.
  • Your benefits are protected – from sick pay to pensions and death in service benefits, your entitlements rely on accurate records.
  • Your next of kin can be contacted in an emergency – this is the first person we contact in an emergency, through appropriate channels.
  • Your loved ones are looked after – accurate details help ensure that, in the event of your death, any death in service benefit is passed on promptly and without complications. For further information and guidance, please access our Death in Service policy.
  • We are committed to fairness and inclusion - correct reporting our HESA data, helps us monitor representation across the University and supports our efforts to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Even if your details haven’t changed, taking a moment to review them can help prevent future issues and ensure protection for you and your family. While we all hope such situations are unusual, having up-to-date information means that, in the event of the unexpected, your loved ones can act swiftly and in accordance with your wishes.
