Changes to IT login service
29 Aug 2024
IT Services are making some changes to the IT login service, which means that logging in to some University services will look different.
The IT login service (occasionally referred to as the Central Authentication Service or Shibboleth) will receive several visual and functional changes:
- A name change to “IT sign-in service” in line with industry standards
- The page will respond more comfortably to differently-sized screens
- Accessibility improvements
- A more consistent appearance with University websites and other services
There will be a short period of downtime to the IT login service around 11am on Thursday 5 September while the changes are applied, however if you are already signed in to a service which uses this, you will remain signed in. The disruption is only expected to last a few minutes, however please allow until 12 noon for testing to fully complete.
You do not need to take any action, as the service will work the same way that it does now, with the added feature that you will be able to log in with your University email address as well as your IT username.
