WATCH: Our Covid-19 campaign

19 May 2020

Highlighting our people’s response to the crisis

In response to the rapid escalation of the Covid-19 pandemic and its domination of the news agenda our University launched a campaign, days after lockdown, to highlight the impact of our research, teaching and social responsibility activities in the fight against the new coronavirus.

To date the campaign has generated more than one million impressions through social media, more than 34,000 hits on the website from across the globe and our case studies have been mentioned in a Universities UK ‘We Are Together’ report, Russell Group policymaker briefing and on the UKRI Hub online.

This project is a collaboration from across our University, with input from teams within all three Faculties, our Student Communications and Marketing team, Social Responsibility team, Division of Development and Alumni Relations, Internal Communications team and Policy@Manchester.

The campaign is being coordinated by the Division of Communications and Marketing and includes a film, premiered at the Making a Difference Awards 2020, thanking all our staff, students and alumni who are responding to the coronavirus challenge in a variety of ways:

The campaign is focusing on our University values in action across three areas:

  1. Highlighting the innovation and pioneering spirit of our researchers in the fight against COVID-19;
  2. Celebrating the courage and humanity of our staff, students and alumni at the front line of the health and social care response to COVID-19;
  3. Sharing the knowledge and wisdom of our staff, students and alumni to provide support and advice during this time of global crisis.

Corporate Campaigns Manager, Vicky Taylor-Plane said: “There’s been a brilliant collaborative team effort behind bringing this campaign to life on a quick turnaround with lots of case study and news content being published and promoted across various channels, including alumni and student comms mailings.”
