IT Support Centre phone suspension

19 Mar 2020

Calls to the IT Support Centre temporarily suspended between 8am and 5pm weekdays

IT Services has taken the decision to temporarily suspend the IT Support Centre telephone lines. The telephone system software is unable to effectively manage the volume of calls to IT support colleagues who are working from home. While we find a way of making it work for everyone, the IT Support Centre will operate a call back service.

Need IT support to work remotely?

Please read our information – you might find the answer to your question without having to speak with us:

Log a request with us

If you want to speak to a colleague, please log in to the IT Support Portal, and search for the request which best covers your query. If you’re unable to find a suitable form, search for the ‘General request or IT issue’ form and complete it ensuring that you include a telephone number that we can contact you on.

If you’re unable to log in to the IT Support Portal, please use the Guest Portal.

Let us call you back

We will use a wider team of IT staff to call you back, and we will prioritise calling colleagues who are unable to work.

If you’ve reported a fault we will endeavour to contact you as soon as possible, and within three business hours. If you have raised a request we will contact you within one working day.

We will endeavour to bring back the phone service within the next week, once we have dealt with the issues we are experiencing with working from home.

Calls on evenings and weekends

Calls to the IT Support Centre are only suspended between 8am and 5pm weekdays. At all other times calls will be answered by our ‘out of hours’ service. The phone number is the same: +44 (0) 161 306 5544.

Thank you for your patience in these unprecedented times – we are working tirelessly to continue to provide IT help and support to staff and students.
