Registration for our annual Research Communications Conference is now open. The event on Thursday, 29 February is open to researchers at all career levels and Professional Services colleagues responsible for promoting research.
This year’s event is entitled 'Promoting your research: Developing the skills you need to reach new audiences' and will offer sessions on developing communications plans, gaining new audiences both internally and externally, raising the profile of your research using digital platforms and the media, discovering innovative ways to promote research such as using video or podcasts, and how best to create lay summaries for funding or awards applications.
At the event researchers can also take the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken for their online profiles such as researcher explorer, conference websites and LinkedIn.
Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, will also lead a panel debate about the benefits of effectively communicating research, and will be joined by: Professor Dame Nicky Cullum, Professor of Nursing in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work in the School of Health Sciences; Duncan Shaw, Professor of Operational Research and Critical Systems at Alliance Manchester Business School and Honorary Professor in the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute; Marco Domingos, Senior Lecturer and Bioprinting Technology Platform Lead at the Royce Institute; and Joanne D’Angelo, Research Comms Manager and Campaign Lead at the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
The event is being held at the Core Technology Facility, Grafton Street, Manchester, and starts at 9.30am.
